Former Chelsea full-back Mario Melchiot claimed on talkSPORT that Arsenal have no chance of winning the Premier League after an 11-year drought since last winning the title.
With Jose Mourinho's Chelsea 10 points ahead of their rivals, who they face this Sunday, a win would leave them 13 points clear of Arsene Wenger's side and just three points short of capturing the title for the first time since Carlo Ancelotti's 2009/10 double-winning side.
A win for Chelsea would also leave the Gunners fighting for second place, with the two Manchester clubs shortly trailing them on 65 points (United) and 64 points (City) respectively.
“No, I don’t think there’s any way Arsenal can get back into the Premier League title race," Melchiot told talkSPORT's the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show.
“Jose Mourinho won’t let Chelsea slow down, he’ll be on the training ground saying, ‘Arsenal are trying to catch us.'
“His game is all about making you think he’s not worried by anything. While, at the training ground, he’ll be working on it."
Mourinho is renowned for playing mind games with the media and his fellow Premier League managers.
Melchiot continued: “In his mind there’s nothing else that he wants more than a win. He won’t go for a draw. That will put everything to bed and they will win the title.”
Chelsea travel to the Emirates this Sunday for the highly anticipated fixture against London rivals Arsenal, which will kick-off at 16:00pm GMT and be covered live here at VAVEL.
