Colombian striker Jackson Martinez could be heading to North London this summer for a reported fee of £24.7 million.

Martinez has had a spectacular season at FC Porto, scoring 32 times in 41 total contests. The star striker is looking to move to a bigger club and the Gunners are a perfect fit for him.

Martinez has a great combination of pace, strength, and finishing. He has proven himself against the big clubs this season when he scored and won a penalty in Porto's 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich.

Arsenal are in need of a world class striker and Martinez could be a great fit to play with Olivier Giroud. He, along with Giroud, could be a dominant strike force in England and Europe. The Gunners have secured a spot in the Champions League next season, and Martinez could be the man to drive them to European glory.

If this deal does go through, FC Porto would need a replacement at the striker position. They may turn to their other forward, Ricardo Quaresma, to man the attack. Quaresma usually plays on the right wing but if needed to he can play in the centre. Back-up striker Adrián is not a bad replacement for the Portuguese side but he should not be a long term replacement.

Arsenal have been linked to a variety of attackers including Alexandre Lacazette, Raheem Sterling, and Christian Benteke. If this deal goes through, these rumors will be all but squandered.

This move would certainly be one of the transfer period’s top deals.
