Arsenal join the chase for Mario Gotze after his agent slammed the way his player has been treated at Bayern Munich.

Gotze has been strongly linked with a move away from the club after an interview given by his agent in German magazine, Bild, last week stated he was frustrated with his current situation.

Situation with Bayern

Volker Struth believes that the German club and their manager, Pep Guardiola, are responsible for Gotze's considered poor form this season and feels they could have supported the player more to get the best out of him. Speaking to the Bild, Struth told them:

"Guardiola has destroyed Gotze. He feels like the coach doesn't have faith in him and yet still he is asked to be decisive when he gets on the pitch,"

Struth also added that Gotze is unhappy that he was used as a substitute instead of starting in vital games such as the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona and the DFB-Porkal semi final against rivals Borussia Dortmund

"Of course he was disappointed and that did bother him," Struth added. "As a player, you are always wondering 'why did I not start?'

The German attacking midfielder has played 48 games and scored 14 goals during the last season, almost identical to the season before and he also performed well during last summer's World Cup so there is no obvious reason for why he missed certain games.

Gotze was a transfer target for Arsenal before he joined Bayern from Borussia Dortmund two years ago. Currently valued at £49mil and rated as one of the best players in the world, he could be an expensive buy but he has plenty of potential and only looks to improve throughout his career.

Could the Gunners potentially break their transfer record again to acquire him? It would certainly be a great coup if they did.
