It was a great ending to the season for Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean international was signed by Arsene Wenger to bring the experience and difference into the Arsenal squad.

A bargain who totally added creativity to the Gunners' squad, helping them win the FA Cup trophy for a second successive season.

The former Barcelona forward also helped Arsenal finish third, guaranteeing a spot in the  2015/16 UEFA Champions League without the need to go through a qualification play-off round for the first time since the 2011/12 season.

Not only that, but as soon as the season was over, Sanchez joined his international team mates only to help Chile win the Copa America 2015 for the first time in the nation's history.

Wenger confirms Sanchez will miss PL opener

For the good of the team, Wenger has confirmed that the Chilean will miss the Premier League opener in order to perform well next season, and also to build upon his last season's performances.

"He'll be back with us on Aug. 3 and it takes about three weeks to competitive," Wenger told a news conference in Singapore, where Arsenal are competing in the Barclays Asia Trophy.

Wenger thinks "It could take him a little bit less time [to get match fit] but he'll miss our first game."

Why it could be better for Arsenal if Sanchez Misses the Opener?

Simply, it's better to start fresh and fit than start and be injury prone.

Arsenal face West Ham United at the Emirates in the opening day of the Premier League, with all due respect to a strong Hammers side, Sanchez and co will face tougher challenges.

Wenger's side face Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United in the third, sixth and eighth game weeks respectively. This is where the team needs a ready and on fire Alexis Sanchez.

Alexis Had a Good First Season at the Emirates

The Chilean certainly had an impressive first season with the Gunners. Let's take a look some of his stats with Arsenal last season:

  Premier League Champions League
Games 35 7
Minutes Played 2942 601
Goals Scored 16 3
Assists 8 1
Key Passes 71 10
Chances Created 79 11

Impressive first season stats. And if the Chilean continues to perform this way, we shall see an Arsenal side which is surely a title contender.
