Arsenal are in talks to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to The Metro.

Arsenal have been strongly linked to the Gabon striker this summer, with Arsene Wenger looking to strengthen his forward line ahead of the new season. Reports in Germany have stated that Dortmund have turned down a £28.7million offer from the Gunners, it would appear Arsenal are now keen to finalize a deal with the German club for the striker. Aubameyang had reportedly been offered a new contract but is keen to play in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur also interested.

Aubameyang has a great record in both France and Germany

Aubameyang made 46 appearances last season, scoring 26 goals, including Dortmund's second goal in a 2–0 win over Arsenal in the first group match of the Champions League. Dortmund had a nightmare season in the Bundesliga in which they were in the relegation zone for a large part of the season, they eventually rallied to finish seventh, with Aubameyang finishing third in the scoring charts with 16 in the league.

Aubameyang began his career with AC Milan in 2008, his stint at the San Siro was not one to be remember as he failed to make a single appearance for the club, the striker was loaned out to several clubs including Saint-Etienne which he eventually made a permanent switch to. He made a total of 96 appearances for the French outfit, scoring 41. Aubameyang was initially linked with a move to the Emirates during his time in France, but his performances caught the eye of Dortmund who ended up snatching him up on a five year deal following a season in which he was named in the Ligue 1 team of the season.

With Petr Cech being Arsene Wenger's only summer signing so far, Arsenal fans will be hoping the Frenchman hasn't stopped shopping around in the transfer market just yet.
