Aston Villa and England midfielder Fabian Delph has been ruled out for up to two months after being told that he will need surgery on his dislocated shoulder.

The 24-year-old, who has started two of the last three Euro 2016 qualifying matches, injured his right shoulder on Tuesday.

Delph is unlikely to feature again until just before Christmas.

Villa were hit hard by an injury to another key player in January when top goalscorer Christian Benteke was ruled out for six months for an Achilles injury. However, the Belgian returned from the bench against Manchester City in 2-0 defeat before the international break.

Manager Paul Lambert feels that Benteke will be in contention for a starting place against Everton on Saturday.
