Aston Villa have snapped up Manchester City's Scott Sinclair.

The winger, who has made just two starts for the Premier League champions since joining in 2012, has joined on loan until the end of the season, with  a view to agreeing a permenent move in the summer.

Sinclair moved to the Ethihad for £6.2million at a time when he was viewed as a promising young player. Now 25, this potential seems to have been wasted by years sat on the sidelines at City.

The former Swansea man joined West Brom on loan last season, though again failed to make an impact in the first-team. He made just eight appearences.

Sinclair will be hoping he will be given more game time at Villa Park, where he is reportedly open to the idea of staying beyond the initial loan spell, should it be a success.

Manuel Pellegrini is thought to be after £4million for Sinclair, though Villa initially baulked at this figure at the beginning of the January transfer window. Boss Paul Lambert is hoping to be able to negotiate a reduced fee in the summer.
