Villa owner Randy Lerner has decided to terminate Paul Lambert's contract after weeks of speculation over Lamberts future.

The Claret and Blue lost 2-0 to Hull City in Tuesday's Premier League clash and this proved to be the final straw for the clubs owner after the struggling side dropped into the relegation zone.

Goals have been a mager issue for the side now 18th in the League with the Villans scoring only 12 in 25 games this season.

His assitant coaches have taken charge of the club until a replacement is found, amongst names mentioned for the job are Tim Sherwood, Glen Hoddle and Neil Lennon.

A large amount of Villa fans were increasingly unhappy with Lambert in-charge and made their feelings known during the match against hull, some of them sporting banners saying 'Lambert out'.

It is no great surprise Paul Lambert has been given the sack, their goals-to-game-ratio is 0.48, this is the lowest in Premier League history. Fans want to be entertained and Villa were not playing the football that fans pay for, under Paul Lambert.

If Villa are to escape the jaws of relegation they will need to find someone who can get the team playing, and do it quickly. There are only 13 Premier League games remaining this season and the Villans need to start scoring goals, and also tighten up at the back, if they want a hope of staying in the Premier League.
