Remi Garde's first month in charge of Aston Villa has been undoubtedly a tough one, as he has the unenvious job of trying to steer the Villans away from the relegation zone after an inconsistent start to the season.

Tim Sherwood was sacked and his replacement was swiftly resolved within days of the announcement, with the former Lyon boss maintaining his happy stance in management at Villa Park despite the club's struggles recently.

Garde eager to maintain faith

Ahead of their clash with Watford as one of Saturday's lunchtime kick-off's, plenty of media reporters were in and around the Bodymoor Heath training ground for various reasons.

One of those, was due to speculation regarding Jack Grealish's punishment - after he was spotted enjoying himself with some late-night party antics after their unfortunate hammering at the weekend against Roberto Martinez's relentless Everton side.

The 20-year-old winger, who recently pledged his allegiance to England, has spent a second day training with the under-21 side as a consequence of his actions - and it's not the first time that the talented forward has got himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons either.

As quoted by the Birmingham Mail, he said he understood the challenges facing the club when arriving, and that 'the mission remains the same' on how he plans to save the side from relegation this term.

He also said panicking would be "the worst attitude to have", and as a result, he's still "confident and positive" with his first-team squad, considering there are a lot of points to play for.

Ahead of a hectic Christmas schedule, Villa face Southampton, Arsenal, Newcastle, West Ham and Norwich before the start of 2016 - but Garde maintained his optimism and faith in his team with plenty to prove in the following few months.

"It's a nice feeling [to be back in management] - I'm very busy again but this is what I was missing. I missed the way you live when you're in training every day."
