Whilst many believe that Aston Villa have already lost their fight against relegation, the next worse thing to lose is the fans, something which they'll be in danger of doing should they not defeat Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

Without a win in over five months, bar a single victory against Notts County in the league cup, Villa's sad situation plunged to new lows on Saturday, as they could only muster a disappointing 1-1 draw away at Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup.

Villa are losing the fans, quickly

It wasn't necessarily the result that concerned fans most, with the cup always willing to throw up a surprise, but the lack of passion shown by the players. Things were so bad, that Brad Guzan and Joleon Lescott were accused of having a competition on the bench, seeing who could spit chewing gum closer to the touchline.

This led to fans clashing with the players after the game, bombarding them with abuse as they got on the coach, and reportedly being met with laughter by some of their heroes.

There's certainly nothing to be laughed at when it comes to the league situation Villa are in, as Remi Garde's men languish bottom of the table on eight points from 20 games, 11 points from safety.

They're still yet to win under Garde's leadership, a run which stretches back to November, and there is little faith left that the Frenchman can steer Villa out of trouble.

Palace have quality, but aren't in form

However, stranger things have happened in football, and victory over high-flying Crystal Palace would certainly be a start. Sitting in seventh positon on 31 points, the Eagles can go as high as fifth with victory on Tuesday.

Recent league results haven't been so kind to Alan Pardew's side though, having not won in four games, 0-0 draws to Stoke City and AFC Bournemouth coming before last week's 3-0 defeat against Chelsea

However, they're still a quality team packed with dangerous players, and they got some confidence back with a 2-1 win over Southampton at the weekend, progressing to the next round of the FA Cup.

Team news

With two of their most impressive players this season, Jordan Amavi and Adama Traore, out with long-term injuries, Villa's woes took a further hit this week as Jack Grealish was ruled out of the game with tonsillitis.

Alan Hutton is a further doubt, meaning Leandro Bacuna is likely to feature at right-back, with recalled loanee Aly Cissokho playing on the other side of defence.

The visitors remain without star player Yannick Bolasie, who is out with a calf problem, whilst Connor Wickham and Dwight Gayle could return from hamstring injuries to feature.
