Relegation threatened Aston Villa have a chance to continue their recent upturn in form on Saturday, as they make the short trip to the Hawthorns to face near rivals West Bromwich Albion

With the two teams' grounds being just a 15 minute drive from the other, bragging rights are at stake in the Second City, as well as three Premier League points.

Too little too late for Villans?

After a simply shocking start to the season for Villa, many thought that they were down and out, with some bookmakers having already paid out on their relegation.

Despite being well adrift at the bottom of the table, they have improved in recent weeks, with relatively new manager Remi Garde finally having the desired effect on the players. Unbeaten in four games, there is hope that the Frenchman could help them achieve the impossible.

Unfortunately for those on B6, two of those unbeaten four were against Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup, with goals from Ciaran Clark and Idrissa Gueye helping them see off the League Two side in a midweek replay.

However, things have been encouraging in the league, with four points taken from their last two games, a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace and a 1-1 drew versus Leicester City. Despite this, they're still 10 points from safety, and many think that a West Brom victory on Saturday would strike the final nail in the coffin.

Baggies are never fun to face

Tony Pulis' side will be full of confidence having returned to winning ways in midweek, with Salomon Rondon's first goal in three months giving them a 1-0 win against Bristol City in the FA Cup.

They're never a side that teams look forward to coming up against, and have shown their steel having already taken points off the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal this season, currently sitting 13th on 27 points - 15 more than Villa.

However, they do struggle to score goals at times, with Pulis' methods not always brilliant for strikers, and star player Saido Berahino desperately out of form as he angles for a transfer away from the club. With this in mind, Villa's defence, who have conceded just two goals in the last four games, could give their side a good chance of taking all three points come Saturday.

Team news

Despite having started in the last two league games, Libor Kozak could give way to Rudy Gestede up front, given that Gestede grabbed the equaliser against Leicester last weekend.

Mark Bunn should return in goal after Brad Guzan was given a game in midweek, whilst captain Micah Richards will be sweating over his place at right-back.

Pulis' biggest choice will come over his strikers, with Rondon battling against Victor Anichebe and Rickie Lambert for a starting spot. Elsewhere in the team, Chris Brunt, Darren Fletcher and Jonas Olsson are all doubtful. Ben Foster could make his return from a lengthy ACL injury.
