Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has insisted that he won't be giving up on his teams fight for survival, despite their position in the table worsening week upon week.

Garde was speaking after Villa's 0-0 draw with nearby rivals West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, a game that the Frenchman's side dominated, registering 15 shots compared to the opponents four, but unable to break down a sturdy defence.

Villa in a dire situation, now 10 points adrift

That result left the Villans bottom of the table, six points from Sunderland the place above them, and 10 points from the relative safety of 17th place. They've only for 15 games left to play, with 45 points to fight for.

Speaking to Villa's official website, Garde explained that his team "won't give up until the end", adding that it is their "job to believe" and that's why they will. Speaking about himself personally, Garde said; "I will be the last one to give up".

Recent upturn in form has given everyone a lift

The ironic thing is, that as they gap to safety has increased that little bit more, Villa's performances have improved by huge lengths. Unbeaten in their last five games, the B6 side have taken five points in three Premier League games, including a draw against high flying Leicester City.

Explaining that he is "really frustrated" that Villa have only started to play well and pick up points recently, Garde said that he was glad to see that his players made the fans realise they were trying, but that simply giving their all "is the minimum" he expects.

He did praise his squad though, insisting that he's seen "a real team" in the last few games they've played, and that they're "going to try and do it until the end", as they try to produce the most unlikely of miracles.
