Cardiff City, newly promoted from the Championship and in the top flight for the first time in over 50 years, would have never thought they could win against City. The visiting side were weakened in defence, missing Kompany and being forced to play Javi Garcia at centre back.

There were no real chances in the 1st half, as Bellamy faced his ex club. As Pellegrini watched on as Cardiff held firm against the City team. Frazier Campbell caused a few problems for the weakened City defence, and almost scored when he turned his marker inside the penalty area, but was unable to get a telling touch on the ball.

Into the 2nd half and City came out looking to score and then settle on their lead, and they did just that as Edin Dzeko shot from the edge of the D in the 52nd minute and it glided past David Marshall with captian Yaya Toure watching on.

Then Cardiff looked to get back into the game, and came forward with Campbell who was looking lively, but he put a chance wide of Joe Hart. Then the moment came a cross was played into Campbell's feet which was saved by Joe Hart straight to Gunarrson who poked it home and made it 1-1.

In the 72nd minute Cardiff won a corner and Fraizer Campbell scored unmarked with a blistering header pass Joe Hart, who should have done better. Negredo and Nasri then came on. Campbell doubled his sides lead from another corner, this time his header went high into the net.

In the 6 minutes added on City came forward and reduced the deficit through Negredo who gided a header passed Marshall, but Cardiff held on for a 3-2 victory.

The MOTM was Frazier Campbell who put in a peformance which was filled with goals, chances, and defending too.
