Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made Norwegien acquaintance Magnus Wolff Eikrem his first signing as manager of Cardiff City.

The 23 year old playmaker, has played under Solskjaer already during his time at Manchester United for the reserve team. And most notably enjoyed a successful spell under Solskjaer at Molde FK, scoring 6 goals in 68 appearances, winning and defending the Tippeligaen league title, and also winning the young player of the year title, along with a nomination for the player of the year award, additionally.

The Norwegien, renound for his technical ability, set pieces and passing range, only joined Dutch side Heerenveen in the summer, after Solskjaer had to allow him to leave boyhood club Molde FK.

Eikrem owes a lot to employer Solskjaer, as the 23 year old found his way into football as a product of one of Norway's 'Ole Gunnar Solskjaer soccer school's'.

The midfielder was very highly commended by some of the coaching staff at his time at Old Trafford, but unfortunately, manager, Sir Alex Ferguson didn't feel he was up to the first team standard.

Fulham manager and ex Manchester United assistant manager, Rene Meulesteen admitted:

“I regret Magnus never got a chance in the Man Utd first team. The manager felt he wasn’t good enough. He can handle the Dutch top flight and get even better. I see Eikrem as an Ajax-type player, a typical playmaker.”
