The Football Association have charged three members of Chelsea following their 2-1 defeat to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on April 19, 2014.

Chelsea's Ramires has been charged for violent conduct after an off-ball incident with Sunderland’s Sebastian Larsson in the 42nd minute. The encounter wasn't caught by the referee but was reviewed by a a three-man panel of former elite referees who believe it's a violent conduct. The Brazilian international has until 6pm on Thursday 24 April to respond to the charge.

The club's assistant manager Rui Faria was charged with two conducts. It is alleged that he used abusive and/or insulting words towards the Fourth Official in the 83rd minute of the game. He was also charged for his behaviour following the match referee’s request that he leave the technical area. The Portuguese football coach has until 6pm on Monday 28 April to respond to the charge.

Finally, the FA charged Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho for his post-match comments he made after the game. Mourinho congratulated Mike Dean (the referee of the fixture) and Mike Riley (General Manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited) for their superb perfomances throughout the season. The problem is he was using sarcasm to express his opinion on controversial decisions made by the referee throughout the game.

It is alleged that Mourinho’s comments constitute improper conduct, in that they call into question the integrity of the referee appointed to the above fixture and/or the integrity of Mr Mike Riley, General Manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited, and/or the comments bring the game into disrepute.

Mourinho has until 6pm on Monday 28 April to respond to the charge.
