A late first half goal from Demba Ba and a killer second in injury time from Willian sealed all three points for Chelsea at Anfield and ended Liverpool's 11 match unbeaten run. The men from Stamford needed to win to keep alive their hopes of lifting the Premeir League Trophey but with a Champions League Semi final in midweek, Jose had hinted of a weakned team. Indeed the Chelsea squad was missing a couple of its key players, most notably Petr Cech and John Terry following injuries in midweek but Jose's words wern't to be taken too seriously as he out did his opposite number on the tactical front.

Chelsea played the match with a five man midfield, one which sat deep and stifled Liverpool team that have blitzed all before them in recent games. The first half saw the reds dominate the possestion front as we have come to expect in Brendan Rodgers but Suarez struggled up front without Daniel Sturridge who was sat on the bench and the makeshift Chelsea centre back pairing of Branislav Ivanovic and Premeir League debutant Tomas Kalas looked like they had palyed alongside each other for years. Mamadou Sakho wasted a rare sight at goal by blasting over the bar but otherwise, Mark Schwarzer;s goal was undisturbed.

Indeed, Chelsea wern't treatening thmselves up front but the key moment came right on the stroke of half time. Stephen Gerrard miscontrolled a simple Sakho pass and then slipped to allow Demba Ba through on goal and he had all the time in the world to slot past Simon Mignolet and give the Blues a priceless goal.

In the second half, Chelsea shut up shop. Liverpool went on the attack, introducing former Chelsea man Daniel Sturridge into the attack but Chelsea looked solid. Mourinho's game plan was working to perfection and Liverpool looked devoid of ideas. Long shots apppeeared to be the only way Liverpool would find an eqauliser and Mark Schwarzer did well to palm away a Joe Alllen volley from the edge of the area.

As the clock ticked into injury time, Chelsea signed, sealed and delivered the win. Fernando Torress broke clear following a Liverpool attack and rhe unselfishely side footed the ball to Willian who was able to walk the ball into waht was now an empty net as Mignolet went out to cvhallenge Torres in vain.

Jose Mourinho's celebrations after the second goal contradicted his views earlier that the Champions League tie against Athletico would be more important than this game. His side are now just two points behind Liverpool with two matches to play. The Chelsea win also opens the door for Manchester City who with a win in all their remaining fixtures will be crowned champions.
