After 13 years of service at Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard has today confirmed his departure from Chelsea Football Club.

In an official statement, the midfielder thanked Roman Abramovich as well as the managers and coaches which he played under throughout his Chelsea career:

"When I arrived at this fantastic club 13 years ago I would never have believed that I would be fortunate enough to play so many games and enjoy sharing in so much success. This club has become part of my life."

"Roman Abramovich, the man who saved our Club and took us all to new levels. His desire to push the Club to the top of the football world has rubbed off on everyone. All the managers and coaches who have helped me develop my game during the time I have been here. I have learnt from every one of them."

"The club will move forward and as a Chelsea man I have no doubt that with the quality of the players that are there, they will continue with the success that we have all enjoyed over the past seasons.

"Thank you for the memories and keep making history!"

Lampard was signed for £11 million in 2001, and during his preceding years at Chelsea, the midfielder made over 600 appearances and became the club's all time leading goalscorer with 211 goals. In 2005, Lampard also finished runner-up in the Ballon d'Or and now defunct FIFA World Player of the Year awards.

As well as individual successes, the 35 year old was an intergral member of squads which won 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 Europa League, 3 Premier League titles, and 4 FA Cups.

During the 2013/14 season however, Lampard was sporadically utilised by Jose Mourinho, with the majority of his 40 appearances coming from the bench or against lesser opposition. After signing a one year deal last Summer, the club have decided against renewing the England international's contract.
