Serie A outfit AC Milan are closing in on a deal to bring Chelsea's Fernando Torres and Marco Van Ginkel in on a season-long loan. Despite Mourinho saying earlier this week that Torres would not be leaving the club, a deal is in the works according to various sources.

Torres, who has fallen to third in the pecking order at Chelsea, and Van Ginkel, one thought to be for the future, could be shipped out on a season-long loan in order to allow for the Blues to bring in one more foreign player. Although many media outlets are reporting the deal is close to being finalised, a late snag could be the rumours of Diego Costa tearing his hamstring, which would rule him out for 4-6 weeks. The reported injury may force Mourinho to keep the £50 million striker or it could just edge Torres out of the club.

Chelsea are reluctant to loan out Van Ginkel, giving the young midfielder an opportunity for more game time after a season-ending knee injury at the beginning of the 2013/14 campaign. Van Ginkel has made just four appearances for The Blues is currently a back-up to Matic. His departure would contribute to opening up space for Chelsea to potentially bring in another striker.

AC Milan's VP Adriano Galliani has confirmed the club's interest in both players as they look to reinforce their midfield and replace recently departed Mario Balotelli. In an interview with Milan Channel, Galliani said: "Our goal is to take a great striker. Fernando Torres? He is a great striker. Let's see if he comes or someone else."

He went on to confirm the club's interest in Marco Van Ginkel's services, "We have made our proposal and are now waiting on an answer."
