This year saw the end to the relationship of Ashley Cole and all time leading goal scorer Frank Lampard. Cole joined in 2006 from fierce rivals Arsenal, he was a loyal servant to the blues till 2014 when his contract expired which allowed him to join Italian giants AS Roma. Lampard's contact also expired along with Ashley Cole, which saw him move on to the new New York FC franchise but do not start until the 2015 season. So this year after just joining the New York FC, Frank joined Manchester City who are in a partnership with the New York FC franchise. 

As two greats gone already this summer, more transfers out of Chelsea happened again. Strikers Demba ba, Samuel Eto'o and Fernando Torres all departed the team this summer leaving Chelsea with none for the new season so acquisitions were needed. Also departing was the versatile David Luiz who left Chelsea for PSG for dee around €50 million. Very early on into the window saw the purchase of long time target, Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa, who was part of Spains 2014 World Cup squad in Brazil for £32 Million. Also from Atletico, Chelsea bought Brazilian international left back Filipe Luis for fee around €20 million to replace long term servant Ashley Cole. This window also saw a return from Atletico Madrid was goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois who has been on loan in Madrid for a few years to improve his progress as a player.

Elsewhere in Spain, Chelsea bought Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas formally of Arsenal. He was bought for an undisclosed fee but to be rumoured in the area £30 million. This Transfer window saw the return of a true Chelsea legend in Didier Drogba. He rejoined his beloved Chelsea on a costless due to his contract expiring with Galatasaray this summer. With just 2 strikers Chelsea needed to buy another and they did in Loic Remy from rivals QPR for a rumoured £8.5 million. Finally was the return of Kurt Zouma after finishing the season in the ligue 1.
