Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has publicly admitted that he may have gone too far when he criticised the support that his team received at the weekend from the home supporters, during their 2-1 home win over QPR.

Mourinho himself said the support was quiet, expressing his disappointment about the lack of noise from the hosts, saying it was as if Chelsea were "playing in an empty stadium" in the first half an hour.

The Blues are currently the league leaders having started the season in fine form, and remain four points clear at the top of the Premier League following their rather tense victory over their West London rivals last weekend.

He had this to say: "Everybody at Chelsea Football Club knows how much I love the club, how much I want it to improve, and how much I want to be a part of the club in the future. Maybe I go a little bit too far. But I see myself in the stands watching Chelsea and I want to play, I want to help.

If I'm not a player, I cannot play. If I'm not a coach, I cannot make decisions. If I'm just a fan, what can I do to help? That's just my view.

This is not, for me, just a job. It is more than that, because it's Chelsea. Even a moment of criticism has to be analysed with different eyes, with the eyes of somebody who knows why I came back to Chelsea and why I'm here with my heart, and why I want to stay for a long, long time."

Chelsea travel to Merseyside on Saturday afternoon, in a tough test up against Liverpool, who narrowly missed out on winning their first league title for over 20 years. Mourinho and his men will be weary of the threats posed by The Reds, who have been unpredictable to say the least so far this season.
