League leaders Chelsea are reported to make a move for Atletico Madrid defender Miranda in the summer.

Reports say that club technical director Michael Emenalo was present at Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Malaga on Saturday. The Brazilian only has a year left on his contract with reports suggesting they are keen to cash in.

Miranda who joined Atletico back in 2011 has started 19 matches this campaign and has found the net on three occasions.

He said: "Of course these news [stories] reach me. And they cheered me up. It’s a sign that I am doing a good job.

“I look at it with pride, but my intention is to stay at Atletico because I still have a year and a half let on my contract.”

The clubs discussed the possibility of a move for the 30-year-old last summer when Diego Costa and Felipe Luis made the switch Stamford Bridge but he rejected the move to stay in Madrid.

Miranda has been linked with a move away from Vicente Calderon for a long while with Madrid offering him to both of the Manchester sides, but both of the clubs are more interested in team-mates Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez.
