Chelsea have opened talks with Atlético Madrid surrounding the possibility of a £30million move for Spain midfielder Koke which could see former Atlético man Filipe Luís move in the opposite direction, according to The Express.

José Mourinho has allegedly already pinpointed areas of weakness in his squad having been crowned Premier League champions on Sunday, and Koke is said to be at the top of his summer shopping list.

The 23-year-old's performances for Atlético over the last few seasons have drawn envious looks from some of Europe's top clubs, and with Madrid's second club well off the pace in the hunt for the Spanish title, key players could be on their way out.

Koke has a £44million release clause in a bumper five-year contract signed only last year, but it is thought that the return of former favourite Luís could prove an adequate makeweight.

The 29-year-old full-back moved from the Spanish capital last summer with high expectations but has failed to make any sort of impact at Stamford Bridge with César Azpilicueta Mourinho's first-choice left-back.

And The Express claim that, after Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo travelled to Spain to watch Koke last week, initial talks between the two clubs have already begun.

It is also expected that the Blues will make a move for a forward to challenge Diego Costa in the first-team. With 37-year-old Didier Drogba's one-year contract on the verge of expiry, Inter Milan's Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi is a reported target.
