Even with Didier Drogba being subbed off in the 28th minute for Diego Costa, he was the instigator of all festivities and celebrations after the final whistle as Chelsea celebrated their league title win.

In a glorious career since joining Chelsea in 2004 Didier Drogba has scored the winning penalty to secure the clubs first ever UEFA Champions League triumph against Bayern Munich in 2011-2012 and gained his fourth league title this season.

Being a third choice striker this campaign was obvious due to his age and commitment to the success of the club, however, due to regular injuries to Diego Costa and Loic Remy he netted seven goals in all competitions.

Drogba told the media about his future before the match:

"I want to play for at least one more season and in order to play more football I feel I need to go to another club. All the fans know my love for Chelsea and I hope to be back here in the future in another role."

Drogba also received one of the most unique send offs in history with John Terry initiating the team on the pitch to carry him off in his recognized king fashion. A standing ovation full of praise and gratitude provided an extravagant atmosphere and memorable occasion.

The Ivorian will join Frank Lampard and possibly John Obi Mikel and Petr Cech in leaving the club as being one of the members of all the Chelsea Barclays Premier League winning sides.

Drogba leaves the club with 100+ goals in 200+ appearances.
