After a hugely successful season for Chelsea, having secured the Barclays Premier League and Capital One Cup double, improvements are needed in order for them to fuel a charge to win the UEFA Champions League.

With the transfer window now open, big names are being linked to the Blues, with Manchester United's on-loan striker, Radamel Falcao, being one of them. This has been a surprise to most of the world's media over the past month or so in which this rumour has developed, especially because the AS Monaco forward has only netted four goals in all competitions since a £6million pound loan fee was agreed on transfer deadline day back in September.

His release clause is believed to be in the region of £43million pounds but his market value has no doubt decreased significantly after the past twelve months, where he has struggled to get back to his scintillating best following a serious long-term injury suffered last year, which meant he was ruled out of contention to play in the World Cup with his native Colombia in Brazil.

If he does in-fact join Jose Mourinho's men, which would be a surprise to say the least, he'd most probably play second-choice to Spanish striker Diego Costa, or even third behind French forward Loic Remy, who has been clinical when called upon in his first season for the west Londoners. Falcao struggled for regular first-team football under Louis van Gaal, and was criticised for a lack of impressive displays especially given his reputation for making opposition defences scared about playing against him.
