Kenneth Omeruo has officially joined Turkish side Kasimpasa on a season-long loan deal. The Nigerian defender spent last season on loan with Championship team Middlesbrough.

The deal went through after Omeruo successfully passed his medical, the transfer does also have an option for Kasimpasa to buy him at the end of the season. He joined Chelsea back in 2012 from Standard Leige but has spent the majority of his time away from Stamford Bridge, with loan periods at both Middlesbrough and ADO Den Haag in an attempt to develop his game.

The Nigerian has managed to make vast improvements in his performances, allowing him to play an integral role in Boro's promotion push last season. His efforts whilst on loan at the Teeside club saw him become an international regular, playing apart in both the World Cup and Nigeria's successful Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Omeruo hoping to make a big impact

Omeruo joins the Super Lig team this summer despite claiming he was ready to fight for a spot in the Chelsea squad in the upcoming season, after gaining experience whilst away on loan.

However the chance for first team regular football was something he couldn't turn down, speaking to BBC Sport he expressed his determination to impress the Turkish club: "I want to show the manager and the fans they have made a good choice and I am completely focused on breaking into the squad."

Having yet to make an appearance for Chelsea, the chances of him playing this season would have been slim. Therefore continuing to develop his career and work on his game is likely to have been a wise decision - in what is still the very early stages of a potentially promising career.

Omeruo continued in his interview to state his aims for the season: "The target is to get a lot of playing time and help Kasimpasa achieve their goals."
