Yeovil Town Ladies have completed the signing of Atlanta Primus from Chelsea.

Aged just 18, Primus has struggled for real chances with the Blues and so has opted for a move away in order to help her development instead, making just three appearances for Chelsea in 2015 - all in the FA WSL Cup.

With Yeovil targeting promotion from WSL 2 this season, the young attacker will add plenty to their squad too as they look to secure top flight football for 2017.

She especially bolsters the team following three departures earlier today, with a clear-out clearly on the cards in order to ensure the right team is fighting for a top two finish.

Yeovil thrilled with signing

Speaking to the club's official website, manager Jamie Sherwood expressed his delight with Primus' arrival at the club, having long been an admirer of her talent.

He revealed that he has "been aware" of her and her ability "for a number of years now," and thus has "watched her progress with great interest" whilst with Chelsea, and also with England's youth teams.

He also disclosed that he "tried to sign [Primus] on loan last season," but his efforts came to "no avail." Therefore, he described her permanent arrival as one he believes "is very exciting."

Despite her young age, Sherwood described the new signing as one with great "maturity" too, as well as a good "character" which is helping her "quickly settle into the group."

On top of these attributes, Primus also brings "a huge winning mentality" to the group after Chelsea's recent success - with them winning the WSL 1 and FA Women's Cup in 2015 - and her new manager is already "looking forward" to watching the player "progress further" under his charge.

Primus raring to go

Primus also spoke to the club's official site about her move, saying immediately: "I can't wait to get started with the new season."

First team football is what she is especially looking forward to, saying that she is "relishing the opportunity" to be given that at Yeovil, whilst she also believes the Lady Glovers can help her to "grow and develop" into a "better player" - whilst she spends her time "helping the team push for promotion."

Whilst Primus said she is "grateful for [her] time at Chelsea," she is now "excited" about what she called a "new chapter" and a "new challenge," with the first impressions good too as the "staff and players" have made her feel "welcome," which is helping her to "settle and find [her] feet."

The attitude she conveyed during her first interview as a Yeovil player was certainly positive and passionate too, which is exactly what the fans will be wanting to hear.

"It wasn't difficult putting pen to paper," the 18-year-old admitted, adding that she believes the "timing" of the move is "perfect."

"I'm extremely optimistic about this season," she concluded, "and know that as a team we are hungry to push for promotion."
