Chelsea secured a comfortable 5-1 win for Guus Hiddink's first home victory since his return against Newcastle United in an entertaining fixture at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues were on fire as they dominated most aspects of the game and had no mercy at all, they were three goals up by the 18th minute and then killed the tempo.

Chelsea's view - a much-needed performance

The Dutch manager said it was good to have the first win at home in his second spell after too many draws.

He also mentioned that, after a game with such intensity, the Paris Saint-Germain game is coming far too soon.

The Chelsea manager reported that John Terry will be scanned tomorrow but his injury might be a small muscular injury to his hamstring.

There is a possibility he won't be available for the Champions League clash midweek.

Gary Cahill also spoke to the media, he praised the Chelsea side's performance: "We went about today in the right way and played some great football."

He was happy to finally get back on the pitch after being benched by Hiddink, "It's great to be back on the pitch and, ultimately, getting the result. It was not just the result but the performance today was fantastic - great to be part of."

Newcastle's view - a forgettable match

Steve McClaren said, "We lost the game in the first 15 minutes, we said before the game it was going to be vital how we are going to start the game."

He thought that his side got exposed defensively plenty of times and believes the problem was that they couldn't control the ball.

He stressed again that the first 15 minutes were vital and they decided the game, but that there are still plenty of games left to the season and there is room for improvement.

Andros Townsend, who scored the only goal for Newcastle, said that he hopes his side will come back and get some points next game before heading to a training camp.
