Crystal Palace's resurgence under Alan Pardew has continued as the club close in on the signing of Yohan Cabaye from Paris Saint-Germain.

Subject to a medical in the coming days, Cabaye will be returning to the Premier League after leaving Newcastle United back in January of 2014. The midfielder failed to nail down a spot in PSG's starting lineup and has appeared just 36 times in two seasons since signing for the French champions for close to £19 million.

French international to become record signing

Cabaye, 29, is set to become the club record signing for the South London side and is expected to join for a reported fee of £10 million, rising to around £13m with add-ons.

The deal surpasses the former record of £7 million for James McArthur last summer. The signing marks a huge step forward for Pardew and company as they seek to possibly break into European places in the coming season.

Failure to feature regularly with last season's Ligue 1 winners has caused the midfielder's career to stall and a move to London will most certainly see him play more as he nears his 30s. The move back to Ligue 1 hasn't worked for Cabaye but a return to England's top flight may prove differently.

Time in Newcastle

The French international spent three years under Pardew on Tyneside, making 79 league appearances and scoring 17 times in the process. The 29-year old had attracted attention from Arsenal in his Newcastle days and was subject to interest from West Ham this summer, but opted for a reunion with his former manager.

Cabaye will be expected to join Mile Jedinak and McArthur in Pardew's midfield as they continue to impress more and more every season.

Pardew continues to thrive as manager of Crystal Palace and the big name signing of Cabaye is sure to please the fans at Selhurst Park.
