Yohan Cabaye believes former Manchester United player Wilfried Zaha can be an important player for Crystal Palace, after his good performance against his old club last weekend.

Both Zaha and Yannick Bolasie caused the United full-backs plenty of problems, as Louis van Gaal’s side were fortunate to come away from South London with a point on Saturday.

Cabaye and Zaha have probably been Palace’s stand-out players in the month of October, although it wasn’t the best of months for Palace as they lost three games on the bounce.

But October ended with a more than credible point against arguably one of the challengers for the Premier League title, and it will give Alan Pardew’s side confidence heading into November where they face the North-east strugglers Sunderland and Newcastle United at home.

Zaha has to take his game to the next level says teammate

Palace have two wingers that never fail to excite, and with Zaha regaining his old confidence after what was a troublesome spell at Old Trafford, Cabaye believes he will become an important player for the club which nurtured him.

Speaking via the Croyden Advertiser, Cabaye said: "We need him and we need him to be the man with Yannick Bolasie as well.”

Cabaye continued by saying: "He's feeling confident now and just wants to play his football, which is to take the full-back on and to make a difference on the right or left. He is an important player."

Zaha has to continue to show the form which is currently earning him plaudits; there is no doubting he has potential. He is at the right place to fulfil his potential, and for Palace that is good news, as Zaha could be the difference in whether Pardew’s side can crack the top six in the coming years.
