Club captain Mile Jedinak hasn’t featured regularly for Alan Pardew’s side this season as the impressive performances of James McArthur and Yohan Cabaye have kept him out of the side.

But the Australian captain has vowed to stay and fight for his place, until he is no longer needed. Jedinak has been a huge part of Crystal Palace Football Club; he epitomises everything about the club, and in their promotion winning campaign he was one of the Eagles stand-out players.

And when the club made the transition into the Premier League he was leading from the front with combative displays in the middle of the park.

This summer it looked as though his times at Selhurst Park would be over as the club accepted a bid from Stoke City, but talks broke down and Jedinak remains a Crystal Palace player.

Jedinak wants to stay and prove his worth

Speaking, via London 24, whilst on international duty with Australia, Jedinak said: “The club made it obvious (in September) they’d accepted a bid, so I was asked to talk to Stoke.”

He continued to say: “But for whatever reason it didn’t eventuate and I’ve put that behind me. I’m still contracted to Palace and I will give the maximum until such time as I’m told I’m not needed.”

It’s been hard for the Aussie so far this season, as he has only made six appearances from the bench; when in previous seasons he was first choice in the middle of the park.

“Absolutely I want to stay; I’ve made that very clear. It’s a club that’s given me an awful lot, and I will continue to fight to try to regain my spot. Whatever role I’m playing, I’ll try to maximise it, that much is within me,” said Jedinak.
