It’s been a week of frustration for the Crystal Palace family as the defeat to Sunderland at Selhurst Park on Monday night left Palace wondering how the three points got away from them.

Palace have now lost four home games out of seven, but away from home they have seven; if they’re not careful Palace’s home form could really overshadow their away form this season, if games like Sunderland continue to slip away from them.

It has been a similar theme for Crystal Palace this season that they have struggled to break down, well-drilled sides; and with their strikers not on firing form just yet – they have found it hard to create worthwhile openings.

McArthur says Palace can’t take their ‘foot off the gas’

James McArthur has been an ever-present in the side this season, and speaking after the defeat he said: "The Premier League is hard; you're always going to have tough games.”

Palace controlled the whole game, even after Sunderland nicked their priceless goal, but they couldn’t find a route to goal.

And the Scotland international said: "I felt we had a lot of the ball against Sunderland but we lacked the killer instinct to get that goal and we've let a poor one in.”

The 28-year-old finished by saying: "But that's the Premier League. You can't take your foot off the gas."

Palace host Newcastle this weekend; Alan Pardew’s former side travel to Selhurst hoping they can nick something just like their rivals did.
