After Crystal Palace's hard-fought point against Swansea last weekend where Scott Dann scored early in the second-half to end a run of five league games without a win, Dann says service to January acquisition Emmanuel Adebayor is crucial.

The former Tottenham striker lasted 86 minutes much more than Alan Pardew hinted at in the build-up to the game; Adebayor did have a few chances to open his account for Palace but he lacked that cutting edge.

But he certainly adds a focal point to Palace’s attacking play, which they have desperately lacked in the previous games; and with Watford coming to Selhurst Park this weekend, the Eagles have a great chance of getting the three points.

Dann says Adebayor will be a "big player" for Palace

Palace's strikers haven't scored enough goals this season, hence the arrival of Adebayor and if they can get the Togolese striker scoring, a gradual push back up the table will be on the cards.

Speaking to the Croydon Advertiser, Dann admitted he asked Adebayor as to whether he "felt tired", but he believes the experienced forward just has that "natural fitness", which has been enhanced by his own personal training methods.

Adebayor's fitness levels an encouraging sign

Prior to the move to Selhurst from his social media platforms, Adebayor showed off the range of the different drills he was doing to keep in shape, and he also took part in matches in Africa in a bid to keep his fitness up.

"It just goes to show the type of lad he is. He will be a big player for us between now and the end of the season if we can use his qualities more and get him into the game," said Palace's centre-back.

Adebayor might have a point to prove, but the 28-year-old Dann said he's a "top, world-class striker", who has proved that "over and over again" in the past.

"For him to come here, maybe he had a slight point to prove. Considering he hasn't played much for a while and got 35 minutes against Bournemouth, he did well at Swansea."

Getting the ball in dangerous areas will be pivotal for Palace, if they want to see Adebayor hit the back of the net, and Dann admits the team has to get the service to him: "I would be welcome for him to score many more than me! He's got that quality and we've got to start getting more service to him."

"When we do, I think he'll start to put the ball in the back of the net for us. Ade has done it before - so we'll be on to a winner if he can do it for us."
