It has been announced by Everton manager Roberto Martinez himself in this morning’s press conference that Leighton Baines has signed a new contract at the organisation. This is huge news for Everton ahead of the Merseyside derby tomorrow night and will give everyone at the club a big lift, which will hopefully give the Merseyside club the belief they need to win. This is very good news for Everton devotees as many are used to their top players leaving due to financial restrictions at the club under, which was often the case with former manager David Moyes. David Moyes, now at Manchester United, made it known that he was interested in the England full back as he tried to sign Baines in the summer when trying to acquire Belgian Marouane Fellaini.

Roberto Martinez commented on the contract extension with a beaming smile that looked larger than the river Mersey by saying, "He is so important with his daily standards and with the younger players. His best is still to come." He also went to say, "We're delighted Leighton has signed for the next four years. It gives us a great boost internally and also for the fans."

You can only imagine that this is virtuous news for the England left back as he now can feel settled now knowing his future is with ‘The Toffees’. Everton have to travel across Stanley Park to play their rivals Liverpool tomorrow night, which is expected to be an exciting game with both teams pushing for fourth place. After the last game at Goodison Park it is expected to be a tremendous advert for English football.
