Everton manager Roberto Martinez as confirmed that the club is looking to reward 20 year old English footballer, Ross Barkley with a new contract with talks set to open at the end of the season.

“We will always reward players that deserve it and obviously Ross is one of those”

Barkley suffered a broken toe last month but has been a revelation for the toffees so far this season under Roberto Martinez.

In his pre-match conference ahead of Everton’s game against fellow Premiership campaigners, Swansea in the fifth-round of the FA Cup, Martinez confirmed that though Ross is not yet fit but will be an important player for the club towards the end of the season.

“I am really pleased the way that he is putting himself up for the games and he wants to be ready but Ross is going to be very vital for us in the final third and I want to make sure that we use him wisely and always a 100 per cent”

The talented midfielder has spent the last two years on loan to Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday respectively but now looks to seal  up a place in the senior team under the former Wigan manager.
