Roberto Martinez has done yet more shrewd business in the transfer market, this time to complete a deal to sign Chelsea attacking midfielder Christian Atsu on a season-long loan deal from The Blues. The Ghanian performed well in the World Cup in Brazil this summer, and has finally secured a place in the Premier League this season after spending last season on-loan away at Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem.

This is what Atsu had to say on the deal: "I'm very happy to be joining Everton. It's a great club, which likes to play football, and it's a great pleasure to be here. I know it's a very competitive league and I believe with hard work we're going to be successful this season."

Martinez had encouraging words to say about his loanee signing: "He will excite fans because he brings something completely different and a different way of playing. He fits in with the culture and the way we want to play. He's very gifted and he's got the right personality to fit in with the group.

Atsu becomes Everton's 5th signing of the transfer window, after Besic, Lukaku, Galloway and Barry all signed permanent deals with the club.
