Romelu Lukaku finally scored after missing a dozen chances to save a point for Everton at home to Leicester City just two minutes from the end of normal time.

This game took a while to get going, but when it did it was some contest. Everton took the lead just shy of the hour mark through Steven Naismith, it was some good hold up play in the box by Lukaku who found Naismith on the left and his right foot shot was then deflected just inside the near post.

Leicester were level within just six minutes though as Jamie Vardy and David Nugent combined just a minute after coming off the bench. Vardy drove down the right and fizzed in a low cross which Tim Howard could not hold and the ball fell for Nugent just six yards out who made no mistake with the help of a slight deflection.

The Foxes then completed the turnaround just 20 minutes from time as Esteban Cambiasso gave them the lead. A deep cross from Danny Simpson down the right had Howard flapping and the ball then fell for Vardy who quickly picked out Cambiasso who turned it in left footed from six yards.

Victory was snatched away from the bottom club though in the 89th minute when Lukaku finally found the net. A snap low cross from the left by substitute Christian Atsu was glanced in by the Belgian striker at the near post with the help of a deflection.

Leicester looked the brighter team throughout but especially in the first half where Everton could not get a grip in the game. Jeffery Schlupp threatned early on as he ran from the left side of the box to the right before shooting right footed but Howard got his angles right. Schlupp had another good chance at the end of but after a right wing cross had delfected his way, his left foot volley was superbly blocked by John Stones.

Everton's only real chance of the first half was the first of many misses from Lukaku with him blazing over from six yards on this occasion after great work from Seamus Coleman down the right wing with the cross.

The second half started in much the same vain with Schlupp having another golden opportunity just two minutes in when he fired wide of a half empty goal after Matty James shot was pushed by Howard straight to him.

Everton then took the lead with Naismith against the run of play but Nigel Pearson reacted positively and brought on Vardy and Nugent for Schlupp and Riyad Mahrez, within a minute the substitution had worked when the two combine for the equalizer. Leicester then took the lead through their veteran midfielder thanks to another assist from Vardy.

Then just four minutes from time another wonderful oppurtunity came for Lukaku but he could only divert Leighton Baines mishit shot wide. He showed character though to get across the near post and glance Atsu's cross home just two minutes later to avoid a damaging defeat for the Toffee's.
