Everton are set to target Swedish international John Guidetti on a free transfer and are ready to compete with Norwich City and Watford to secure his signature.

The Merseyside outfit are looking to bolster their attacking talent, to provide competition for their main striker Romelu Lukaku and Guidetti, 23, could fill that gap.

They currently have Arouna Kone backing up Lukaku but he has struggled with injuries and Guidetti could be set to replace him as Everton's back up striker.

Guidetti spent last season on loan with Scottish champions Celtic, scoring 15 goals - including one against Inter Milan in the Europa League.

The Swede started well at Celtic but fell out of favour in January, when he informed manager Ronny Deila he would have to move on in the summer for the good of his international career.

Guidetti is expected to be playing in the Premier League next season with reported interest from newly promoted Norwich and Watford. However a move to Everton would see him in a stable situation with a chance to play in "big games" with plenty attention from his national side.
