It was a shambles for the defending title holders as they were beaten 3-1 at the hands of Everton at Goodison Park.

1. Steven Naismith was the man of the match

After replacing Muhamed Besic, who came off after nine minutes due to injury, Steven Naismith found the back of the net in the first half an hour of the game. He showed Roberto Martinez that he is willing to fight for a starting spot. The forward later added a goal in the 82nd minute to complete his hattrick and finish off Chelsea

2. Roberto Martinez surprise line-up paid off

Although Roberto Martinez's tactical choices prior to the game surprised many; they proved to be the correct choices. It was surprising to see the likes of Kevin Mirallas or newly signed Aaron Lennon start for Everton.

3. Cause for concern from both defences

While the game certainly had a surplus of offence, it should be concerning for both teams to see the amout of good chances throughout this game. Credit should be given to the attack but both teams have had problems on defense and it will be something to worry about for both teams going forward.

4. Gareth Barry controlled the midfield

While Chelsea boasted the likes of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas in the midfield, it was Gareth Barry that controlled the midfield in this game. He protected the back line and did not make any mistakes and didn't give up possession when he had the ball. It was a solid game from the Englishman as he and James McCarthy helped keep the Chelsea front line in check.

5. Chelsea are in trouble

With the only one win in their first five games, Chelsea's title hopes are fading fast. Add Manchester City's fast start to the equation and it makes things even worse for the Blues. A win at West Brom has been the only time Chelsea has gotten all three points from a match and things are getting tense for Jose Mourinho and company.
