It was another defeat for Everton at Goodison Park as Swansea City took three points from the home team. Gylfi Sigurðsson's penalty was wiped by an own goal just a few minutes later. But Andre Ayew scored the winner off a deflection from John Stones to win the game for Swansea, all within a manic first-half.

It was another home game and another loss for the Toffees. Today continued the worrying trend of Everton playing poorly and dropping points at home. They had impressive draws against top clubs such as Man City and Chelsea away yet fail to bet teams such as Stoke City and Swansea City at Goodison.

Ayew excellent, Stones slumps

Andre Ayew was one of the best players on the pitch and he got rewarded for his efforts with a goal in the 34th minute. Although it took a deflection from Stones, Ayew was able to power the ball past Howard and the Everton defence. The forward has been fantastic ever since he arrived from France in the summer. He has been a workhorse for Swansea and is having a great season.

It's safe to say John Stones had a very unlucky day. First, he played a major part in conceding the penalty that Sigurðsson scored to give Swansea their first lead of the game. Then his deflection of Andre Ayew's shot helped it get past Tim Howard for the second goal. He looked out of sorts in this game and the defender had a nightmare today.

Deulofeu's crosses cause problems, but Everton have bigger worries

For an Everton attack that struggled all game, Gerard Deulofeu was the bright spot. The youngster was a menace on the wing the whole game as he kept whipping in crosses and creating chances from the right. The former Barcelona boy has taken on a more of a distributor role in his second stint at Goodison, as he hasn't scored much but has assisted a lot of goals.

The Toffees have won one game in their last nine league matches and are now 12th in the Premier League. Right now their best finish will likely be 8th or 9th. A challenge for the European spots will take a very good run of games, and it does not look like they are capable of that.
