Everton have made a £13.5 million for Lokomotiv Moscow striker Oumar Niasse and hope to complete the deal before Monday's transfer deadline, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The 25-year-old has scored 12 goals in 21 games in the Russian Premier League this season, but is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

Roberto Martinez is hoping to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window shuts, after Steven Naismith left for Norwich City last week and with the possibility of Aiden McGeady leaving the club on loan.

Who is Oumar Niasse?

Niasse, whose full name is El Hadji Baye Oumar Niasse, started his football career at Ouakam in Senegal in 2008 and it wasn't until 2012 that he made his first steps playing in Europe, through a brief loan spell at SK Brann.

In 2013, Niasse had a trial with Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Etienne but he did not sign a contract with the French side, instead signing for Turkish side Akhisar Belediyesport in the same year.

He scored 21 goals in 34 games in all competitions in Turkey before moving to Lokomotiv Moscow in a deal worth £4 million. He scored four goals in his first season in Russia, but he has scored 12 goals in 21 games in the league this season and provided 10 assists.

The 25-year-old's form has seen him being voted the Russian Premier League's player of 2015 and a number of clubs are monitoring his situation.

Bayer Leverkusen and AS Monaco have already had bids turned down for Niasse, while Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all believed to have scouted him this season.

Niasse is believed to favour a move to the Premier League, particularly as his wife is based in Manchester.

Martinez looking to bolster his attacking options

Martinez has insisted replacing Naismith, who left for Norwich City in an £8.5million deal last week, was not a priority, but said that the club would "keep their options open".

However, with McGeady also possibly leaving the club on loan before the deadline, Martinez appears to be bolstering his attacking options.

Niasse is a versatile forward; capable of both leading a front-line by himself or playing on the wing with his strength and explosive pace.

This type of player is something that Martinez seems to desire, with the Everton boss playing both Arouna Kone and Naismith on the wings this season, and he will be hoping to complete the deal before Monday's 11pm deadline.
