Hull earned their first win since the opening day, and their first home win of the season over Crystal Palace in a 2-0 win at the KC Stadium. Goals from Mohamed Diame and Nikica Jelavic secured the win for Steve Bruce's side and ended a five game winless strak in the Premier League.

Hull reverted back to their 3-5-2 formation in order to try and steady up a defence which has conceded 11 goals in the Premier League this season so far. James Chester was recalled to the side and took Liam Rosenior's place in the starting XI. Neil Warnock named an unchanged side from the team which beat Leicester last week.

The first half struggled to get going, with both sides having chances but lacking a cutting edge in the final third. Hull looked more like scoring with efforts from Abel Hernandez and Nikica Jelavic threatening Julian Speroni in the Palace goal. Yannick Bolasie was a constant threat to Hull's defence, but City's back three held strong and the half ended goalless.

Scott Dann went off injured early in the first half. He was stretchered off and replaced by Adrian Mariappa, who went on to have a positive game despite being on the losing side.

The game instantly burst into life on the hour mark, Scotland International Andrew Robertson ran down the wing and sent in a cross which met the head of Diame. The new signing from West Ham headed the ball past Speroni and scored his third goal in four games since joining the Tigers on transfer deadline day.

Robertson and Ahmed Elmohamady were rampant down the wings, they were given costlessdom to run down the wings with Hull having three at the back, meaning the wingers had chances to run and were constant problems for Crystal Palace.

It wasn't until the goal that Palace burst into life. Warnock brought on Marouane Chamakh to try and give Palace more attacking threat. Palace didn't register a shot on target until the 74th minute, but stand in goalkeeper Steve Harper performed well when called upon. Harper was deputising for Allan McGregor, who is out for 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury.

Hull looked uneasy and another capitulation could have happened if Palace were more incisive in front of goal. But The Tigers wrapped up the win a minute from time, Jake Livermore sent through a defence splitting pass, for Nikica Jelavic to run onto and he broke costless, composed himself, and slotted the ball home past Speroni. He's one goal from Geovanni's record of highest Premier League goalscorer.

Palace nearly got a goal back instantly after Jelavic's goal, former Hull player Damien Delaney sent a header towards goal, only for sub Rosenior to head it off the line. Hull held on and secured their win, and with a clean sheet, Hull's first since he opening day win at QPR, Steve Bruce must see it as a bigger victory.
