Hull defender James Chester is set to miss up to ten weeks after dislocating his shoulder in Sunday's 3-0 defeat to West Ham. The Welsh centre half came off just before half time after suffering an injury that resembled Matthieu Debuchy's injury at Stoke last week. Alex Bruce also went off injured against West Ham with a minor hip injury.
Another injury for Hull boss Steve Bruce to take note of as he now has around eight first team players missing for next week's game against Newcastle. Nikica Jelavic, Abel Hernandez, Mohamed Diame, Andy Robertson, Liam Rosenior, Robert Snodgrass, Chester and Bruce are all out injured and won't be anywhere near fit for at least four weeks.
Speaking after yesterday's defeat,Bruce wasn't very optimistic regarding the hopes he'd be back soon. "At this early stage it looks like he needs an operation." Since then the club have confirmed Chester dislocated his A/C joint in his shoulder. He will then have an MRI scan before seeing a specialist on Tuesday.
Alex Bruce suffered a minor hip problem at Upton Park yesterday and it's not determined how long he will be out for, he goes for a scan on Monday which will give The Tigers more of an indication as to how long he will be ruled out for.
The club also tweeted this morning, 'it is highly likely that Chester will require surgery, meaning he could be out of action for between eight and ten weeks.' Chester's absence will be a big blow to Bruce, despite being inundated with defenders, Chester certainly made his presence known. With defenders like Harry Maguire, Maynor Figueroa and Paul McShane all available to deputise, Bruce will surely bemoan his luck as the injuries start to take their toll.
There is still no news on whether Bruce plans to bring in reinforcements this transfer window. He denied categorically that Hull have made a bid for Blackburn striker Rudy Gestede. However on Monday rumours started to circulate that Hull were keen on bringing Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah to the KC Stadium on loan.
