The latest player linked with a move to the King Power after a hectic summer is 20 year-old midfielder Alessandro Cannataro, according to Leicester Mercury.

A player in demand

The 20-year old central midfielder was released by parent club Internazionale on Monday and reports have linked him to a move to England - with Leicester City being the front runners to capture his signature.

However according to the London Evening Standard, rival Premier League side Crystal Palace have also been reported to be interested in signing the youngter.

The London Evening Standard have also reported that Watford have asked be kept up to date with the players situation, and with Watford's link to Serie A, their interest in Cannataro comes as no surprise.

A player for the first team?

With Matty James out until Christmas time and Esteban Cambiasso moving away from the Foxes, Leicester are in dire need for the addition of new midfielders. But would the addition of this young Italian midfielder fill a gap sufficiently?

There's no doubt that Cannataro possesses some footballing quality, having captained his country at U19 level and being a member of Internazionale's squad for seven years.

However it's unlikely that if he is to sign for Leciester, he would beat the likes of Dean HammondDanny Drinkwater or Andy King into the first team, as they both have regular first team football experience and Premier League experience - two traits Cannataro does not own.

Leicester have been linked to bigger names

Leicester have also been linked with other potentially more experienced names such as Gokhan Inler (according to the Leicester Mercury) and the potential signing of N'golo Kante - who has been likened to Claude Makelele; therefore it's perhaps more likely that Canantaro would be a signing for the development squad rather than the first team.

Nevertheless with nine days until the start of the season, Leicester are taking steps in the right direction and can hopefully sign a couple of high standard players at least in order to survive another Premier League season - but hopefully this time in a more comfortable fashion.
