Jamie Vardy slotted home his seventh Premier League goal of the season, as Leicester City beat Norwich City 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

First half

The Foxes came straight out with the counter-attacking mentality that they've used so frequently this season, which meant Norwich's relaxed approach went out the window, forcing a shaky start for Alex Neil's men.

Leicester's early pressure was starting to gain its rewards in the opening 15 minutes, having the best chances of the game's chances through Shinji Okazaki and Vardy. The Foxes' first goal came just before the half hour mark, Jamie Vardy getting in behind the Norwich defence and being pushed over in the area by Sebastian Bassong. Referee Mark Clattenburg pointed to the spot and Jamie Vardy slammed the ball to John Ruddy's right, sending the keeper the wrong way.

The first half fizzled out with the visitors still ahead, some half chances came and went for both sides but neither team could find the back of the net and Leicester went into half time a goal ahead of the hosts. Leicester deserved their half time lead and could've easily even been a goal or two further ahead, whilst Norwich couldn't handle the pressure of Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki.

Second half

The second half exploded into life right from the off. Cameron Jerome might have thought he'd equalised when he saw his header loop onto the roof of the net. That gave Leicester a much needed kick and almost straight from the goal kick, the home side counter-attacked in numbers through Jeff Schlupp. The Ghanian offloaded the ball to N'Golo Kante who perfectly laid Schlupp off to double Leicester's lead.

Leicester squandered some more half-decent chances as the half went on and were caught off guard when Dieumerci Mbokani was introduced in place of an uncharacteristically-quiet Matt Jarvis. Mbokani saw one chance saved before seeing his bullet header crash onto the side of the post. His efforts were then rewarded when he flicked in from a deep Norwich cross from six yards out.

Norwich then had a five minute period where they continuously knocked on Leicester's door but Leicester showed defensive solidity that they haven't shown this season.

Leonardo Ulloa came off the bench and scored with his first touch, only for it to be disallowed for either his or Huth's part in pushing John Ruddy in the back. As Norwich continued to test Leicester's backline, Vardy saw his shot saved by John Ruddy. Nathan Redmond then thought he'd equalised for Norwich when his shot deflected off the back off Danny Drinkwater onto the crossbar.

The Foxes managed to hold on for the win, moving them back into 4th, whilst Norwich slipped down a place into 13th.
