With Andrej Kramaric being shipped out on loan to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim last week, Leicester City are already looking to re-strengthen their forward line with Sampdoria frontman, Eder.

According to various sources in the Italian media (including Sky Italia), the Foxes are in talks with the former Empoli hit-man's current club over a possible £8million deal. Nevertheless, there are reports that the Genoa-based club are looking for a greater fee for their star forward.

Clinical finisher

Since moving to the Estadio Luigi Ferraris in July 2012, 29-year-old Eder has impressed with his sharp finishing and unselfish play - all attributes that have led to Sampdoria being reluctant to let the Italy international exit the club.

In 135 appearances since his reported £2.5million switch, the experienced frontman has managed to net a respectable 49 times in various competitions such as the Serie A, Coppa Italia and even the UEFA Europa League. However, it is this season that the Brazilian-born striker has really forced his name onto the scene.

Having already found the back of the net on 13 occasions in all competitions so far this campaign, the eight-time Italy international is currently tied level with Juventus' Paulo Dybala as the second top-goalscorer in the Italian top-flight (only eclipsed by former Real Madrid striker, Gonzalo Higuain).

Would he fit at the King Power Stadium?

With Claudio Ranieri previously admitting that he was "very confident" in bringing another striker to the East Midlands during the January transfer window, it seems that Eder could be the exact man that the Foxes are looking for. Currently, the former Chelsea manager only has the likes of Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki and Leonardo Ulloa to call upon for the attack, so it seems that the Sampdoria striker could indeed compete in the current set-up.

As a matter of fact, there is indeed reason to believe (according to the reports in the Italian media) that Ranieri's team have already offered a three-year deal worth approximately £29,000-per-week to the player.

On the other hand, he currently has a contract to run at the Blucerchiati until 2020, so it seems that only a big bid would convince Vincenzo Montella to allow Eder to leave for the King Power Stadium.

If he is to move to the current Premier League table-toppers, however, it could really strengthen the Midlander's surprise challenge for the title and a Champions League berth for next campaign. Therefore, it could be interesting to see how this story develops over the remainder of the transfer window.
