Luis Alberto was one of few Liverpool signings in the summer of 2013. Costing roughly £7million, Alberto put in some solid pre-season performances, but did not impress Brendan Rodgers enough to force his way into the starting XI for the opening game of the season. Since then, Alberto has had few first team minutes, leaving fans wondering what happened to him and where has he gone.

There has been many rumours circulating about his disappearance, soem of which are serious, some are hilarious. But what has happened to the young Spaniard? A majority say he's doing something wrong at training, perhaps not performing to the level Rodgers would like or needs to make first team appearances. Others have stated that he may be playing at under-21 level, hence why he would not be available for the first team.

But then we have the other theories. Some say he has run off to the BBC to become the Stig. Others say he auditioned to be Wally in the next 'Where's Wally' book and got the part. But is this a one time occurence? Having a player disappear from the squad? No. Remember Oussama Assaidi? You probably don't, he was rarely used by Rodgers in his first season as Liverpool manager.

So why are these players being bought in to never be played? Perhaps the club need someone to clean the boots of the regular starters, or perhaps Rodgers likes the way Alberto makes tea? But most likely they're not performing up to scratch on the training ground to push into the first team on a regular basis.
