This Sunday’s afternoon clash involving Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield Road will call the attention to what has been considered as a really emotional race for the 2013/2014 Premier League title. The match is also expected to test the supporters’ hearts as it is extremely important for both sides to keep their dream alive in terms of finishing on top of the league, which would give them the glory at the end of the campaign. Liverpool have not won the league since the 1989/1990 season.

At the moment, Brendan Rodgers’ side lead the Premier League table with 74 points, four ahead of the third-placed Manchester City and two clear of second-placed Chelsea.

Although a simple Liverpool win over the Citizens this weekend will put them in an extraordinary situation in the competition, English midfielder Jordan Henderson does not think it is a good decision to be deeply involved and focused only on this game without considering that there are four more tough matches until the end of the season.

“We’ve got five games left. It’s not one. It’s five. We’ve got to take each one as it comes and it is City. It is a big game but so are the other four”, he said.

“I’ve said all along that we must take each game as it comes and obviously the next one is Man City and we must approach that like we have been all season”, added the player.

Without forgeting the next four games ahead, Henderson claimed that they should prepare themselves in order to show a good performance against the Citizens.

“We’ve got to put on a good performance and get the three points. We’ve got to concentrate, keep our focus and keep approaching games like we have been”, he said.

Henderson also admitted the team is feeling really solid and what he and his teammates must do now is maintain the same football they have been playing since the beginning of this season and keep the enthusiasm and effort to succeed against City, Norwich, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Newcastle – three of these five games will be at home.

“We are high on confidence. But we continue to work hard on the training ground and in games. That’s the most important thing”.

“No matter what circumstances you are in the game, if you keep working then your just rewards will come. That’s what happened at West Ham. We controlled the game really well, especially second half”, told Henderson.

The midfielder still looks to the Liverpool’s supporters and praised their attitude. According to him, they have been incredibly energetic and helpful with the players.

“The crowd have been fantastic throughout. They’ve been really, really good. Supporting us the whole way. We’ve got to put on a good performance for them”.
