Luis Suarez was formerly one of the most controversial players in the world, getting involved in fights, diving and even biting opposition players, not once, but twice. But that all stopped after he received a 10 game ban from the FA and a fine from Liverpool for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic. Suarez missed the last 4 games of the 2012-13 season, as well as the first 5 league games of 2013-14 and 1 Capital One Cup game vs Notts County. However, as the ban only applied to club games, he was still able to keep fit over the summer, competing for Uruguay in the Confederations Cup, where they came fourth.

But when he came back, he'd left his stupid antics and short temper in the past. His return was against a Manchester United side who were adapting to David Moyes' style of play. The Reds lost 1-0, with a goal from Chicarito being the only difference between the teams, although Luis Suarez and co did get chances to equalise and possibly win the game. Suarez's next game showed all Liverpool fans that a certain Uruguayan was definitely back in town. With 2 goals, he announced his intentions to the rest of the league, something all 19 teams should've taken into mind. However, they have not been able to stop him and he has reached 30 goals for the season with a calmy taken finish against Norwich at Carrow Road.

In addition to a fantastic return to club football, the 27-year old Uruguay international has managed to stay mostly costless of any controversy, to the relief of Liverpool fans across the planet. Despite the odd accusation of diving, most recently against Manchester City in what could've been the title decider, Suarez has stayed out of trouble, but not out of the headlines. Suarez has debatably been the best player in the world this season, 30 goals and 12 assists in just 30 matches.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has also publicly backed the Merseyside star in his press conferences, repeatedly insisting Luis Suarez is worth £100 million. He was so confident about this valuation of the league's top goalscorer that when Suarez signed his new £200,000 a week deal Rodgers added in a release clause of £100 million!

In addition, he has been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year Award in the last week, with many backing him to bag the award, including Manchester United and France left-back Patrice Evra. After a season of terrorising defences, no matter who the team is or their position in the league. Having scored in 17 of his 30 league goals this game, he is definitely favourite for the prize.

He has also forced his way into fans hearts, showing his emotion and respect to those who lost their lives in the tragic FA Cup semi final at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough 25 years ago.

So after a massive change in attitude and world class performances week in, week out, it looks as though the fan favourite number 7 Luis Suarez has finally become the mature, world beater Liverpool fans have been begging him to become since his £23 million transfer to Merseyside back in January 2011. 7 months back he returned to club action, but the Reds do not feel they missed him for the first 5 weeks of the season, although he has been a huge addition to the title favourites attack since he came back into action.
