Liverpool are closing in on their fourth signing of the summer as exciting young talent Lazar Marković is said to have undergone his medical earlier today, according to BBC Sport.
The Reds are understood have agreed a £19.8 million fee with Portugese champions Benfica for his services, and the 20-year-old was pictured along with his brother Filip and agent Ulisses Santos at an airport in Portugal before being spotted in Liverpool earlier this week, ahead of his medical after his original medical last Thursday was delayed due to logisitical issues.
A deal could be completed within 24 hours, with Marković having agreed personal terms on a five-year deal and having supposedly had his request to wear the no.50 shirt at Anfield accepted.
He will follow Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Rickie Lambert through the doors at Melwood and will go straight into the group as Liverpool prepare for their first pre-season game on Wednesday, against Brøndby.
The Serbian international helped Benfica win the domestic treble last season, including the Portuguese title and a runners-up spot in the Europa League after moving from Partizan Belgrade in the summer of 2013.
The fee is a shrewd deal for Brendan Rodgers, and Marković's incredible pace and versatility means he will fit in well at Anfield next season. He is a very highly-rated forward, and will suit the Ulsterman's counter-attacking style when he lines up in a Liverpool shirt.
Quick, skilful and with a fantastic work ethic, Liverpool fans are sure to fall in love with the attacking winger.
