Brad Jones

Another assured performance from the Australian despite been on a light schedule throughout the match. He was not required to make a save until late in the game when he steered Tony Saniabria's goal bound shot to corner. A good pre-season so far for him. 7/10

Martin Kelly

His performance was an improvement on his game against Preston. He defended well especially in the first half when he ensured that Ashley Cole's crosses do not pose any threat. He occasionally joined the attack with his 49th minute cross which Lambert failed to connect well, his best attacking effort. 5/10

Jose Enrique

A chequered night in the office for the left-back. He was strong in tackles and good going forward on the few times he went beyond the centre line. He combined well with Coates to combat the threat of Juan Iturbe in the first half. His performance was however fraught with poor passing. He needs to step up his game to convince fans he can do the business. 4/10

Sebastian Coates

The Uruguayan, seemed to be a forgotten man as far as central defenders of Liverpool are concerned. If he continues performing like he did against Roma, he will surely come into contention for a place in the team. He seems to be playing for his career as he is reportedly being lined up for a sale. If he keeps up this level of performance 'stay' rather than ' sale'  will be tagged to his name.  A few misplaced long range passing aside, he didn't put a foot wrong. He played the ball out of defense well and defended brilliantly. He blocked and intercepted most of what the Roma attack threw at him. He was solid in his handling of Totti and combined well with Enrique to deal with Iturbe.  7/10

Martin Skrtel

He put up a decent performance; was strong in aerial challenges and tackled well. A 48th minute push on an opponent in a not dangerous area and his complicity in the concession of the goal were the downside to his performance. If he cuts out the rash challenges and his occasional poor concentration, he is a very good defender. 5/10

Lucas Leiva

A marked improvement on his Preston performance. His performance at Deepdale made some fans abuse him on social media. This performance was one largely deserving of some commendation. He broke up play, pressed well, initiated attacks with good passing and was solid in tackling too especially in the first half. Two rash challenges, one of which earned him a yellow card were his negatives. 6/10

Joe Allen

An energetic performance from the Welshman. Kept his passing tidy and mostly simple and hardly misplaced a pass. Contributed more in an attacking sense than he did against Preston, helping set up attacking moves with his good passing. 6/10

Phillipe Coutinho

Graceful and elegant on the ball. His flicks and tricks thrilled the crowd. Had two good shots on target in second half. Clearly the best player in red on the night. He oozes class, breath taking skills and lovely turning. If he adds end product to his game he will greatly influence Liverpool's season. Substituted late in the game to deserved applause by the fans. He however misplaced a number of passing, that should be expected given the 'risky' passing and moves he tries to execute. 8/10

Fabio Borini

Started the game full of running and movement but was unlucky to exit the match after 11 minutes. N/A

Jordan Ibe

Sprightly and inventive as always. Showed no timidity in taking on his man. His runs, pace and skills added creativity to an LFC attack that was not at its creative best on the night. Lost possession a few times but he will mature with more game time. 6/10

Rickie Lambert

A good run out from the Scouser. Again emphasized the point that he is not the typical big stationary striker waiting for the ball to played to his feet or head. He was mobile picking balls from deep to set up attacks. His fine left foot drive in the 55th minute was one of the few chances in match bereft of chances. He however fizzled out in portions of the first and second half. 5/10

Emre Can

Good passing?  He surely Can! Running? He Can! Box to box play? He Can! Versatile play? Bayern Munich does not insist on a buyout clause when they are selling you if you do not posses something special. Emre's play was impressive all through the game. He was powerful, passed well, attacked, broke up play and helped organized the team. Emre definitely Can be a star. 7/10

Jack Robinson

A good performance by the youngster. He defended well and linked up well in attack especially with Emre Can. 6/10

Kristopher Petterson

A very encouraging performance from the youngster who continues showing promise. He pressed well, held up the ball well and was not afraid shooting. 6/10

Jordan Henderson

Pressed well and added energy to the midfield in a 15-minute cameo. 5/10

Daniel Agger

Much was not asked of him when he came on in the second half. However he failed at the little that was required of him. He was easily beaten by Tonny Sanabria  in the lead up to the series of corners that led to the Roma goal. His defending of the corner kick that led to the goal could have been better. 4/10

Conor Coady

A decent performance at right-back for the midfielder. 5/10

Suso

He made no impact in his short appearance. N/A

Adam Philips

He never got going when he came on. A rash challenge was his only contribution of note. Not long on enough to make an impact. N/A
